End of the Week

This past week we have had a number of jobs to keep our machines running, and our brains on high alert... which is only followed by Friday afternoon wear-out. It's okay though, we're happy to have the work on-hand; otherwise we have to deal with the very boring and monotonous twiddling-of-the-thumbs.

I have to say that we have had so many carpets in for serging this past week! Just today alone I worked on half-a-dozen jobs by noon. Serging is a great application. There is just something crisp and elegant to it. Serging can really improve the look of a carpet. For instance, we had a gentleman bring in a carpet remnant that was given to him and his wife. He admitted that the only reason they kept it was because he "knew it was a nice rug". At first glance, I gave the carpet a bit of the stink-eye. I was thinking, he thought this was nice?! Turns out, it was very nice! The carpet construction was super durable. Nothing was going to tear that apart. The weave gave the illusion of an awesome swirl-like texture, in which the colors blended flawlessly; gray, white and beige. This is precisely why I first gave the "niceness" factor a second guess. At first I thought it was just a dirty old carpet. Once white, now dirty. I was wrong.  After it was finished being serged, it really was a beautiful carpet. I'm sure the gentleman and his wife are going to really love it, when it gets into their new home.

DWP Carpet also did a wide-border/sisal binding job. That came out really spectacular. Dan has become very good at popping those extensive projects out. There are quite a few steps that are taken to get a crisp, unwrinkled, blind-stitch look on the wide-border/sisal binding jobs. I regret not taking a picture of the final product to show. Obviously, this is something I will remember to do next time.

[Cue rapper-esque voice] : Carpet base was also in the house!
I think we bound a total of  1,500 - 2, 000 linear feet of carpet base, collectively. It's super, because it shows that our commercial customers are keeping steady in the horrible economic conditions.

Well, it was a beautiful week, with a weekend forecast to have gorgeous weather!
With that being said, Dan is going to head north to hit up a new flea market.
You can catch Dan with the DWP Carpet Binding trailer full of carpet here.

We caught word that it's a HUGE flea market that has just about everything you can imagine available for sale! So, if you're in the mood for a day-trip travel to Grafton Flea Market and buy a top-quality carpet you WON'T find anywhere else with the price tags we put on them!

As always:
Thank You to all of our customers!
Happy Friday, everyone!
