A Carpet Repair:

What you see in that video there is an older carpet that was brought in for serging. The wool piece had a nice border on it, with beautiful mitered corners. The problem was that the original seam job was so old that the glue was dry rotted! The carpet came apart with little to no effort.  There was no doubt that the carpet would need some extra attention, yet, we had to wait for approval from the customer.

The corners were no longer laying flat. They were completely detached from the seam tape.

One area of original seam.

This image shows how the glue has dry rotted; no longer attached to the back of the carpet.

This was about 4 inches wide.
You can see that the center piece & border were no longer attached.

The original seam had 2.5 inch scrim tape.
DWP Carpet Binding opted for 6 inch scrim tape to repair the seam.

Final Product.
All seamed areas were repaired & the 4 sides were serged with a matching navy yarn!

Those older pieces that still look good on the front facing do not need to be thrown away or replaced!
Sometimes, they just need a little extra TLC to revamp their longevity!

Thank you to all of our customers!
Keep bringing in the challenging pieces;
they allow for us to learn new techniques everyday!
